Fuck Wolf Run

I played in a Friday Night Magic tournament tonight at Knightfall Games. Result: 3 wins, 1 loss---finished in 4th place behind Ryan E, Adam B, and David---all of whom scored 3-1. In other words, I once again lost on tiebreakers. My only loss of the evening was to Ryan E in the second round. Ryan was piloting a "Haunted Humans" deck he’s played before, while I piloted a Wolf Run deck with Slagstorms in the main. The games were rather one-sided and Ryan crushed me without receiving a point of damage in return. I have to say, Wolf Run is a fun deck to play, but the deck seems to consistently fail to win first place. The deck usually scores well, like 3-1, but never seems to get to that 4-0 mark. Still, my objective at FNM isn’t really to win, since the prizes are often shit anyway, but rather to enjoy the competition and the deck itself. Mental note for the future though: If you are aiming to win the tournament, Tempered Steel is probably a better choice.

I'm finally getting around to publishing pictures of my Tyranid army. I really love the way this army turned out. The models look like some kind of vicious bugs from a desert planet, ready to devour their foes. I've had a couple of chances to play with the army in tournaments and both times I enjoyed the way the army plays out, although I have had some misgivings regarding the lack of invulnerable saves in close combat and the disadvantage the Fearless rule. I'll have to vent about this another time.
I recently played Eldar against this Tyranid army (in Ty's hands) and it wasn't pleasant. Ty is a master with Tyranids and he composed a force that made quick work of me (2 Tervigons, 3x2 Hive Guard, 2x7 Genestealers, 6 Raveners, and 2 Trygons = 1500 pts). I was basically dead after two turns. I made some strategic mistakes, placing my war walkers in advanced positions, but I wanted to experiment.
In other 40K news, I'm spending a little more free time painting additional models. And I should have new stuff (and other eldar models) to show soon. Stay tuned!
